NASCAR Championship Weekend 2026: Travel Tips for Fans Heading to Homestead

Last updated: October 14, 2026

The NASCAR Cup Series crowns its 2026 champion in South Florida. NASCAR Championship Weekend 2026 takes over Homestead-Miami Speedway from Friday, November 6 to Sunday, November 8, and all three national series decide their titles on the same 1.5-mile oval. Fans flying in from Canada, Mexico, Brazil or Europe have a few extra things to plan, from race times to where to exchange currency on the drive south.

Why this year’s finale is in Homestead

Homestead-Miami Speedway hosted NASCAR’s championship races every year from 2002 to 2019. In 2020 the finale moved to Phoenix Raceway. For 2026 it returns to Homestead as the first stop of a new rotation, with the championship moving to a different track each year.

The format changed too. The Cup season has 36 races: 26 in the regular season and 10 in The Chase, NASCAR’s version of the playoffs, where the top 16 drivers race for the title on points. The driver who wins on Sunday isn’t necessarily the one who takes home the championship, which keeps the last laps tense.

NASCAR Championship Weekend 2026 race schedule

Day Race Start time
Friday, November 6 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Championship, 200 miles 7:30 p.m.
Saturday, November 7 NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series Championship, 300 miles 5:00 p.m.
Sunday, November 8 NASCAR Cup Series Championship, 400 miles 3:00 p.m.

Start times come from the official Greater Miami & Miami Beach listing. Confirm them on the speedway’s event page the week of the race. If one weekend isn’t enough, the NASCAR Racing Experience runs at the track on Monday, November 9, when fans can drive a real stock car or ride along with a professional driver.

Tickets and where to sit

The speedway sells three-day passes and single-race tickets. The official tourism listing shows single-day tickets from $51.08 and three-day passes from $117.47, and prices can change as the weekend gets closer. The main seating options:

  • Grandstands along the straightaways, close to the fastest part of the track.
  • Ride The Wall Cantina at Turn 1, Sunday only, with food and drinks included. It needs its own ticket.
  • Speedway Terrace, outdoor stadium-style seats above the start/finish line.
  • Ally Champions Club, an air-conditioned suite eight stories above Turn 1, with preferred parking.
  • Ally Pit Box, the only hospitality area in the infield, right above Pit Road.

Add-ons include a pre-race pass for the ceremonies and driver introductions, and radio scanner rentals so you can listen to the teams during the race.

Getting to Homestead-Miami Speedway

The track is at One Ralph Sanchez Speedway Blvd., Homestead, FL 33035, in the south of Miami-Dade County. Most fans drive. US-1 (South Dixie Highway) runs south from Miami through Pinecrest toward Homestead. Parking passes are sold for single races or for the full weekend; buy them with your tickets so you aren’t sorting it out at the gate.

Camping and tailgating

Camping is part of the NASCAR weekend tradition. Two RV parking areas sit outside the speedway, with move-in from Tuesday, November 3. Both have showers, pump-out service, water deliveries and 24-hour security, and tent sites are available inside the RV lots. The Turn 2 Premium RV lot inside the track was listed as sold out.

Infield tailgating spaces measure 20 by 30 feet and fit eight guests. They’re bring-your-own, and each one needs a tailgating ticket. For the grandstands, the official fan guide invites you to bring your own soft-sided cooler. Check the current admission policy before you pack.

Cash or card at the speedway?

Inside the gates, plan on paying by card or phone. The speedway’s official fan guide says all food, beverage, ticket and merchandise transactions are cashless.

Cash still matters for the rest of the trip. Tipping is expected in the US at restaurants, hotels and bars, and small bills make it simple. At the campsite, cash makes it easy to split groceries, ice and fuel with your group, and it covers whatever you pick up on the road south before you reach the track.

If you’re traveling from outside the US, exchange your currency to dollars before race weekend. And when a card terminal asks whether to charge you in your home currency, choose US dollars. This guide explains why.
